The Ghana Tourism Authority Volta, has adjudged Sogakope Beach Resort as one of the newly built hospitality entities in the Volta Region that has demonstrated professionalism and commitment to put the customer first in its operatives.
The 2018 Volta regional tourism awards held in Ho on Friday saw the recognition of 31 individuals and entities in both honouring and competitive categories.
According to the regional manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Alexander Nketiah, the criteria used by the 3-man jury put together by the authority considered customer service, fulfilment of statutory regulations and safety among others in awarding all who matter in the industry.
Sogakope Beach Resort came top as one of the new facilities to have operated in the last two years with commitment to meeting standards. Elated Co-Founder, Kafui Tettey who broke in tears after picking the awards says memories of the investment of founders were fresh on her mind. “I wept because of the efforts, the investments we are putting in Sogakope and other parts across Ghana. I can only pray that the dreams of founders: Jonas Korku Tettey Jnr and Dr. Kinsley Neequaye Tettey grow from strength to strength”.
Best hotel awards went to Wilkado Hotel, Tadzewu in One Star Category, Freedom Hotel in Two Star Category and Chances Hotel in Three Star Category.
Other notable awards on the night were the Visitor Attraction of the year by Afadzato Tagbo Falls, Car Rental Service of the year by From Home Rental Service, Tourism Writer of the year by the managing editor of the lakenewspaper, Harrison Kofi Belley and V1 TV as the tourism oriented media house.
In the honouring category, Continental Spot, Akatsi was honoured for its outstanding customer service over the years and Maxwell Amekpor of Shekinah Glory Hotel, Sogakope as the Tourism Personality of the year.
The 2018 Volta Regional Tourism Awards was on the theme: Celebrating our Heritage.
The ceremony was chaired by Togbe Osei-Tutu Brempong III, the paramount chief of Wusuta Traditional Area.
