Ho Technical University has assumed full administration of Poly Basic School now HTU Basic School with effect from Wednesday, December 18, 2019 after the Ghana Education Service through the regional directorate presented documents of the school to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ben Honyenuga in an inaugural ceremony at GM Afeti Auditorium early Wednesday.
In a speech read on her behalf by the Regional Public Relations Officer of GES, Divine Agoha, the Regional Director of Education, Enyonam Afi Amafuga has advised staff, parents and pupils entering the new system to be ready to adjust to the changes in the pipeline.

On his part the Vice Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Prof Ben Honyenuga assured the gathering of a committed process to see HTU Basic School achieve the aims of its founding fathers back in 1985. He further added that staff of the school will be moved to the University payroll with corresponding earnings and plans to address infrastructural and logistical needs of the school to make it a model school of choice.
The Inaugural Ceremony was attended by parents, officials of GES, the traditional authorities led by Togbe Anikpi III of Ho Heve.
HTU Basic school began in 1985 by the then Principal of Ho Technical Institute, J.Y Vodzi with the aim of providing quality education for children of the staff in the Institute and surrounding community in a workshop of the Engineering Department.
It moved to its current location in 1998 because of sharp increase in enrolment.
The school has a population of 458 pupils ( 243 girls & 215 boys) with staff strength of 29 comprising 23 regular teachers, 2 Nation Builders Corps personnel and 4 National Service Personnel.
