Faculty staff of Ho Technical University have commence the new semester with a 5-day Capacity Training programme on the use of Python programming in teaching and learning.
The workshop which commenced on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 had participants drawn from the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology of the University.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, opening the session, said the workshop forms part of the University’s Continuous Professional Development agenda to enhance the capacity of staff.
He said “continuous training has become imperative for staff to keep pace with the changing dynamics in the world as result of advanced and progressive technology”.
He therefore charged the participants to take the sessions seriously in order to impart their students with the new knowledge and skills.
The Vice-Chancellor also commended the participants and facilitators for making the training possible on the first working day of the new year, and wished them the very best of the year.
Dr. Carl Hope Korkpoe, Lecturer at the Department of Finance, University of Cape Coast, will be facilitating the training with assistance from Mr. Vincent Dey.
Participants during the period would be honing their skills on the use of Python programming applications for engineering and data analysis.
According to the lead facilitator, the adoption of such applications in teaching and learning, would make both Faculty and students more productive.
Commending Management for the realisation of the workshop, Dr. Richard Turkson, Dean, Faculty of Engineering assured Management that, faculty members were ready to imbibe the knowledge from the training and impart same to students.
