Staff and students of Ho Technical University on Friday morning embarked on a tree planting exercise in support of the government’s Green Ghana Day initiative. 
The more than 3-hour exercise, led by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, saw both teaching and non-teaching staff planting hundreds of tree seedlings across the University campus.
In a brief remark, the Vice-Chancellor, underscored the importance of tree planting to environmental sustainability, hence encouraged everyone to wholly embrace the initiative, to restore the country’s lost vegetation. 
“Environmental sustainability is one of our core values as a University, and any opportunity to to contribute to that, is a welcoming one,” he added, and entreated staff to adopt and nurture the trees to maturity.
The University, ahead of the exercise took delivery of more than 500 tree seedlings, made up of Cassia, Ofram and Mahogany species, from the Regional office of the Forestry Commission, the lead agency in charge of the Green Ghana Project. 
In addition, the Department of Agro Enterprise Development supplied a number tangerine seedlings to support the exercise.
Participating in the exercise, were other Management officers, including the Registrar, Dr. Christopher K. Amehoe, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Edward K. Ayimey as well as Deans, Directors and Heads of Department.
