Dr. Elizabeth Dzigbordi Obinnim has been appointed the new Dean of Students Affairs of Ho Technical University. The appointment which was on June 29, 2022, took effect on August 1, 2022.
She becomes the first female to assume the position, and taking over from Ing. Francis Ampiaw, whose tenure ended on July 31, 2022.Dr. Obinnim is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles, and has been teaching in the University since 1995.
She comes to Office with varied experiences, having served in various positions in the past. She was a onetime Head of Department for Fashion Design and Textiles, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, and the Coordinator for Apprenticeship Programmes.
Her professional commitment over the years has reflected on her service to the professional bodies she belongs to. She has served as a board member on Beauty & Wellness Sector Body (SSB); Pan African Design Institute-Ghana (PADI-G), Design Ghana (DG), Institute of Textiles and Fashion Professionals-Ghana (ITFD-G), Ghana Home Economics Association (GHEA), and Women in Technical Education and Development (WITED).
Her area of research is in fashion, beauty and cosmetology. Dr. Obinim again has contributed to the progress, governance and administration of the Institution having served on various Boards and Committees.
In 2015, she instituted the Fashion Excellence Awards for the Best Graduating Fashion Student; and has been a benefactor to about seven graduates.
The office of the Dean of Students Affairs is responsible for the general welfare of the Junior Members of the University in loco parentis.
