HTU: GIZ Inspects Site For A Solar Irrigation Project


Officials of the German International Corporation Agency (GIZ), have on Tuesday 23rd February, 2021 inspected a site at Ho Technical University for the installation of a solar powered irrigation system to facilitate the training of small holder farmers in the Volta region.

The project, which is a component under the GIZ funded Green People Energy Project, was geared toward enhancing the capacity of experts on the installation of solar powered irrigation systems to boast agriculture production.

As part of its contribution, the University has made available an initial 4-acre land for the installation of the irrigation facility,  according to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga.

When completed, the facility will be used as a demonstration centre to train small holder farmers across the region on the use of the system promote an all-year-round production of vegetables.

The project, will also aid hands-on training of students at the execution stage.
