The Angolan Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Joao Baptista Domingos Quiosa, has on Monday met with officials of Ho Technical University as part of his 2-day visit to the Volta Region.

The diplomat and his entourage were hosted by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Edward K. Ayimey and other Management members at the F.O. Kwami Council Chamber.
Also, part of the entourage, was the Commercial Counsellor and Chief Negotiator at Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) Secretariat, Rui Livaanmento.
Discussions centred on possible areas of collaboration between HTU and Angolan universities.

The Ambassador indicated that, the mineral and oil rich South-western country, was going through a rebirth in its educational sector after years of civil war, hence the resolve of the government to look within Africa for collaborations in that regard.
He said Angola was keen on building partnerships with institutions within the continent to advance ‘home-grown’ technical expertise and solutions to indigenous challenges.
He mentioned Agro-Engineering and language studies (English) as two of the immediate areas for possible academic exchange programmes between HTU and other institutions of Higher learning in the Portuguese speaking nation.

On his part, Mr. Livaanmento, Chief negotiator at the AfCTA Secretariat encouraged the University to consider introducing programmes in international trade and regional integration in order to equip students for the new era in continental trade.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ayimey on his part reiterated the University’s resolve to extend and deepen its International collaborations with institutions within and outside the continent.
He assured the delegation that, Management would work closely with the Embassy to fashion out modalities for the possible academic collaborations with sister institutions in Angola.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to Mr. Dela Gadzanku, Regional President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) for initiating the meeting between the University and the Delegation.
The Angolan Ambassador and his entourage were in the Volta region under the auspices of AGI to explore investment opportunities in tourism and other sectors.
