HTU launches 500k Research Fund

The Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga has launched a Ghc500,000 Research Fund aimed at enhancing  Research and Innovation culture in the university.

Speaking at the launch on Monday, 20th December, 2021, Prof. Honyenuga noted that, the establishment of the Research Fund forms part of the strategic direction of the University as the Ghc100,000 seed money would support faculty members to undertake quality research outputs, that would enrich teaching and learning in the university and also inform policy planning of the country.

The Vice-Chancellor underscored the importance of research and innovation especially as an Institution for providing higher education in TVET assured that the fund would be administered by a competent committee that would vet and approve proposals of applicants, without any other consideration except on merit.

He therefore entreated faculty members to take advantage of the fund to build their research capacities.


He also appealed to external stakeholders to generously donate to the HTU Research Fund to ensure sustainability.

Dr. Fiifi Turkson, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, who spoke on behalf of all faculty members, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and Management for rolling out the research fund, which he noted, would drive quality and innovation outputs in the university.

The brief ceremony had in attendance, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Edward K. Ayimey, the Registrar, Dr. C.K. Amehoe, and other key management members of the University.
