Report suspected adulterated fuel within 48 hours – NPA Boss, Dr. Mustapha Hamid

The National Petroleum Authority has ended its consumer week celebration on Thursday November 4, 2021 at the Jubilee Park, Ho.

The authority earlier within the week embarked on series of activities to educate the public on adulterated fuels.

The week long celebration was on the theme: Adulterated fuels; a menace to the consumer and the economy.

Speaking at Thursday’s event, the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Dr. Mustapha Hamid said the authority has a standby intelligence and security team that needs real time information to protect consumers who ends up been cheated from adulterated fuel.

“The customer must report within 48hours: any delay after 48 hours risks the loss of evidence. The petroleum product in question may have been sold out or mixed with fresh like product”.

Dr. Hamid also highlighted measures the NPA has put in place to protect consumers.

“Among the key strategies are the revision of operating procedures in the importation, exportation, and production of fuels by petroleum service providers (PSPs) and the introduction of Petroleum Product Marking Scheme (PPMS) and Bulk Road Vehicle (BRV) tracking system to ensure that products are devoid of adulteration and meet the required specification along the supply chain.
As a result of these stringent measures instituted, the retail outlet failure rate has reduced drastically from 32% as at 2013 to 2.51% as at August, 2021.”

Dr. Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister

In his opening remarks, the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa said consumers are always cheated by those who adulterate fuels because they aren’t given what they pay for.

He also used the platform to invite the public to the 5th Volta Trade and Investment Fair scheduled for November 15-28, 2021.

The public can reach the NPA on these lines: 0545006110 or 0545006112 to logde complaints.
