The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in the Volta Region marked this year’s Chocolate Day at the Children’s ward of Ho Municipal Hospital. The day was observed with a donation to children on admission in the ward.
These items include Boxes of Chocolate, other cocoa products, drinks, detergent among others. Staff of the hospital and parents of the children were not left out of the celebration.
The 2018 theme of celebration is “My chocolate experience”. Presenting the items on behalf of Ghana Tourism Authority, the Volta Regional Manager, Mr. Alexander Nketia stated that the celebration afforded the Authority an opportunity to promote the use of made in Ghana goods. While demonstrating love to patients who unfortunately found themselves in the hospital on a day such as Chocolate Day.“It is fulfilling to give such children an opportunity to have a chocolate experience”. The chocolate experience according to the Regional Manager is teaching the children right. “This is because, it will help them to appreciate the health benefits of Ghana’s premium cocoa and its products. This would help them to grow and continue appreciating cocoa products.” Mr. Nketia also advised on the need to celebrate the day with a lot of self discipline and high moral standards.
Madam Comfort Otoo, Assistant to the District Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) received the items on behalf of the hospital at the Children’s ward.
An Administrator of the Hospital, Mr. Samuel Omega thanked the Ghana Tourism Authority for honoring them and making the day a memorable one. He said this would enhance a very good cordial relationship between Ho Municipal Hospital and Ghana Tourism Authority in the region.
The Regional Director of GTA urged Madam Comfort Otoo to liaise with Hospital authorities to identify some of the challenges facing the ward so that the Authority can mobilize some resources in solving some of them. He further stated that measures were being put in place to adopt the children’s ward to see how they can assist the children should they fall sick and are admitted.
Valentine’s Day comes on the 14th February every year. It originated as a Western Christian feast but is observed in Ghana as Chocolate Day.
