TVET Voucher Project to be extended beyond Volta

The Principal Project Manager for KFW Development Bank Germany, Dr. Elke Ludemann has hinted of a possible extension of an ongoing training for master craftsmen and apprentices as part of Ghana TVET Voucher Project in the Volta Region to other regions in Ghana.

According to Dr. Elke Ludemann,the progress made so far by Ho Technical University in implementing the initiative provides enough grounds to extend the program to other parts of the country. “we saw a very good attendance rate people really motivated to learn.

We saw the great satisfaction of training participants and we hope we will be able to expand within Volta and other regions of Ghana”.

These statements were made in an interview with Volta Premier FM after a tour of training centres by officials of KFW Development Bank on Tuesday June 19,2018.

The Ghana TVET Voucher Project aims at equipping master craftsmen and apprentices in the informal sector with ultra modern technology and skills to improve their trades. The 4 month training program is supported by KFW Bank Germany with a grant of £ 10,000.00.


The Voucher project currently focuses on 5 key trade areas: Construction/Welding,Automotive Repair,Consumer Electronics,Dress Making/Garment and Cosmetology.

About 10,000 people are aimed to be trained. The Volta Region, Greater Accra,Ashanti and Northern Region currently have training centres.
