A sports analyst Benjamin Amoakohene is calling on the head coach of the senior national team Kwesi Appiah to resign after the disappointment of the Black Stars in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Black Stars exited in the round 16th stage through penalties against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on July 8,2019.
The Stars who have not won the cup for the past 37 years were booted out after topping group F.
Amoakohene who also lectures at the University of Health and Allied Sciences was contributing on the performance of the Black Stars on Extra Time on Volta Premier Fm in Ho on Saturday July 13,2019 was calling for Kwesi Appiah to resign.
‘’ I think Kwesi Appiah must resign, that is the best thing to do so that we may not even sack him. Ghanaians have done him a lot of good’’.
The lecturer of the University of Health and Allied Sciences added that the change of captaincy also contributed to the abysmal performance of the team. That the change should have been done before the call up not two weeks to an important tournament like the AFCON.
The UHAS lecturer also said some players must be dropped for a new crop of players because some of them concentrate solely on the monetary aspect instead of dying for the nation.
The Black Stars will now hope to return to content’s flagship tournament in Cameroon 2021.
