Senior Assistant Registrar in charge of Public Affairs at Ho Technical University and Acting Manager of Volta Premier FM, Isaac Sawadong Meyir sunday night was honoured at the Ghana Journalist Association- Volta Awards in Ho.
The second edition of the awards ceremony recognised the works of journalists in the year 2018. The best works submitted by journalists were their works to be vetted by the Awards committee in areas of Education, Sanitation, Agriculture, Business, Sports among others. Deserving persons who have shaped the practice of the profession in the Volta Region were also honoured with citations.
Isaac Meyir, per the citation read out, was honoured for his ever ready ability to speak to all issues especially during the transition period of Ho Polytechnic to a Technical University, a role the GJA felt he played very well at that very crucial moment of in the life the Ho Technical University (HTU) for “actively sustaining a liaison between the media and an organisation in transformation is a big task.”
He dedicated his honour to management for the opportunity to serve the Public Affairs Office, staff, students and all stakeholders of HTU.
“Let me say a big thank you to HTU management, staff and everyone who has helped in keeping the image of HTU high. I can’t do it alone, so I can say we have been honoured and that means we must continue to work harder for HTU.In all I see it as a call to sacrifice more. I was just doing my work without knowing that some people are watching me”
Public Relations Officers of the Electricity Company of Ghana, National Health Insurance Authority, Ghana Education Service were also honoured.
Isaac Sawadong Meyir holds a degree in Population and Family Life from the University of Cape Coast. A Master of Philosophy in Childhood Studies from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He has participated in a number of capacity training programmes in public relations, media studies, customer care, human resource and has been manning the public affairs office since 2014.
