Ho Technical University granted accreditation to run 1st Hospitality Degree in Ghana

The Vice Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Prof. Ben Honyenuga in a press briefing on Wednesday announced that the institution has been granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) to run a 4 year Bachelor of Technology Degree in Hospitality Management, beginning October, 2019.

“We were the first to start the top up BTech programme anywhere in Ghana as a Polytechnic. Today we are the first to be granted accreditation to admit students from level hundred to pursue Bachelor of Technology programme in hospitality management”

The development according to the VC is the beginning of more approvals expected from NAB after the conversion from Polytechnic to Technical University since there are five other Bachelor of Technology programmes pending. They include BTech in Tourism, Events and Leisure, Information and Communication Technology, Fashion Design and Textiles, Food Technology and Agro Enterprise Development.

Prof. Honyenuga also used the briefing to congratulate the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management for placing first among Polytechnics/Technical universities at the 4th American Chicken Cooking Competition by the American Poultry and Egg Council in Accra.

Team HTU was led by Evelyn Banyiwaa Yankson who was adjudged the best in presentation and time consciousness. For her prize, she will go on a six month paid internship at Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra.

Ho Technical University was awarded with a fruit mixer and a 6 burner gas cooker.
