Volta Premier Fm
The first private station in the Volta Region, Volta Premier FM has won the 2019 best tourism oriented media (radio category). This award was conferred on the station at the regional tourism awards which was held at the plush Skyplus Hotel on Friday 11th September, 2020.
Volta Premier FM, over the years has developed a tourism program dubbed ‘Time With Tourism‘ purposely to promote tourism in the region. The program also emphasises the development of domestic tourism in the region.
The National Tourism Awards was instituted by the Ghana Tourism Authority in 1997 to reward excellent performance in the tourism sector.
The Manager of Operations and representative of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tourism Authority, Michael Kwahu Kpingbi said,
“the award is to raise standards and encourage healthy competition among industry players. This is with the view of firmly positioning tourism as a vibrant economic sector and also consolidating the country’s position as a preferred tourism destination”. Mr. Kpingbi urged all tourism industry players to strive to grow beyond their boundaries thereby improving on their standards and quality service delivery.
Volta Premier FM as part of its effort to promoting tourism in the Volta Region is winning the award for the second time. The first won by the station was in 2015.
Time With Tourism hosted by Juliet Nugble-Nunekpeku on the dial 98.1 airs every Thursday evening from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Make time every Thursday to listen to tourism focused educative programmes about the Volta Region and Ghana at large.
