HTU Council Promotes two more Senior Lecturers to Associate Professors

The Council of Ho Technical University has announced the promotion of two Senior Lecturers to the prestigious rank of Associate Professor. The decision was made during the university’s 111th Regular Meeting held on June 15, 2023, following a recommendation from the University Appointments and Promotions Board. The newly appointed Associate Professors are Prof. Kenneth Fafa Egbadzor from the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technology and Prof. Emmanuel Senyo Letsyo from the Department of Food Science and Technology. Their appointments will be effective from January and February 2023, respectively. The university council commended the professors for their exceptional contributions to their respective fields and emphasized its commitment to supporting scholarship and innovation within the institution.

PROFESSORIAL RANK APPOINTMENTS IN THE UNIVERSITY

The Council of Ho Technical University at its 111 Regular Meeting held on Thursday, 15 June, 2023, approved a recommendation from the University Appointments and Promotions Board to promote two (2) Senior Lecturers to the grade of ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR in their respective Departments in the University.

The Senior Lecturers promoted to Associate Professor are:

1. PROF. KENNETH FAFA EGBADZOR, Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology

2. PROF. EMMANUEL SENYO LETSYO, Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology

The appointments take effect from January 2023 and February 2023, respectively.

Prof. Kenneth Fafa Egbadzor – Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, HTU



PROF. KENNETH FAFA EGBADZOR holds a Ph.D Degree in Plant Breeding; MPhil in Crop Science from the University of Ghana, and B.Sc. Agriculture (Crop Science) from the University of Cape Coast. He began his career in Ho Technical University as a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in March 2018 and promoted to Senior Lecturer in July 2019. Before joining Ho Technical University, Prof. Egbadzor had worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Plant Genetic Resources Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). At Ho Technical University, Prof. Egbadzor served as Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology and Deputy Director for the Technical and Vocational Education Research Centre (TVERC) of the University. He is currently the Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.



Prof. Emmanuel Senyo Letsyo – Department of Food Science and Technology, HTU

PROF. EMMANUEL SENYO LETSYO holds a Ph.D Degree in Food Chemistry from the Technical University-Braunchweig, Germany, M.Sc in Food Science and Technology; B.Sc in Chemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He was appointed as Lecturer in March 2008 in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer in December 2017 in the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology. Prior to his current appointment as the Director of Research and Innovation, Prof. Letsyo served as the Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology.

The University Council, in approving their promotions, appreciated the contributions made by the two (2) Faculty members to knowledge in their disciplines through Teaching, Scholarship, and Community Service and acknowledged the quality and standard of their publications as comparable to acceptable standards of reputable Universities globally. Council further acknowledged the honour done the University through their contributions and visibility on internationally acclaimed scholarly search engines. Council congratulates the two (2) Associate Professors on their scholarly achievement and re-assures the Vice-Chancellor and Management of its continued support towards promoting scholarship and innovation in the University.
