SkyPlus Hotel and Resort on the Weta Hills picked many prominent awards at the Volta regional tourism awards held in Ho, on Friday 11th September, 2020. The prestigious hotel facility won two awards in the competitive category and one award in the honorary category. The 2019 Tourism Awards was under the theme Growing Tourism Beyond The Return.
SkyPlus Hotel, has a laudable record in relation to tourism awards in the region. been an award winning hotel on Friday won the award for the third time. In 2014, SkyPlus won the two(2) star Hotel of the year. In the year 2016, SkyPlus won an award for consistency in one percent 1% tourism levy payment for the year.
The 2019 awards won by the hotel are the two (2) star hotel of the year, and consistent tourism levy payment [payer] of the year (Accommodation).
In addition, Manager of Sky Plus Hotel Mr. Thomas Darkey was honored the tourism host of the year.
According to the Volta Regional Director of Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Alexander Kwame Nketia, the award winners under his tenure stand the chance of winning the national awards too. This is because, before a facility is named the winner of a category it meets every requirement of that category.
The awards given in the various categories were strictly scrutinized by a group of jury who visited the various sites and facilities to assess them.

Budget hotel of the year- Ronna Guest House
Guest house of the year – Kikis Court (Hohoe)
One(1) star hotel of the year – African Hill resort
Three(3) star hotel of the year – Villa Cisneros Resort and SPA- Sogakope
