The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Ho Technical University has organized a 3-day exhibition and open day to outdoor new short courses in the Department.
The event held between Tuesday, June 16 – Thursday, 18, 2021 at the Nukulenu Demonstration Restaurant, was to whip up public interest in the courses, namely, Cake Decoration and Sugar Arts, and Floral Arrangement and Balloon Techniques. 
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Tuesday, Madam Judith Agboka, the Head of Department, said the courses were designed to offer hands-on entrepreneurial skills to persons desirous making a living in the sugarcraft and decor industry.
She noted that, the courses would run for three months, with lessons scheduled for Fridays to Sundays; after which participants would be thoroughly assessed and issued with certificates. 
Madam Agboka further assured prospective learners of quality training delivery in a reputable academic environment, with recognised and valuable certificates.
Dr. Edward K. Ayimey, Ag. Pro Vice-chancellor, who opened the exhibition, lauded the initiative by the department to bridge the skills gap in the sugarcraft and decor industry. 
According to him, ‘hospitality is our niche area as a University, and coming up with these short courses would further entrench our strength in that sector,’ and assured the department of Management’s support to ensure a successful roll out of the courses. 
The ceremony was graced by some principal officers of the University including, the Director of Finance, Mr. Augustine K. Owusu, Director of Works and Physical Development, Mr. Nicholas Awagah, Rev. Dr. Ing. Seth Dzokoto, Director, Centre for Distance Education and Mr. Isaac S. Meyir, Head of Acdemic Affairs, representing the Registrar.
On display at exhibition were various sugarcraft products, decor and floral arrangements.
