The Ho Technical University in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana and the Ghana Oil Company Limited, on Tuesday launched the HTU-CIMG/GOIL Entrepreneurial Marketing and Innovation Awards for students.
The award scheme seeks to promote youth entrepreneurship and job creation among students, help fund winning start-up ideas and also give students the opportunity to bring theories and strategies studied in the classroom to the local economy.
Students are expected to present a page idea that is innovative, that can solve a problem, have a marketing strategy and have the ability to create jobs by April 5, 2019.
Twenty best ideas will be selected for a 5-day intensive training in business plan writing and presentation by April 19, 2019.
The award panel is mandated to announce the best 5 ideas by April 26, 2019. These finalists will have a final opportunity to present their ideas to the panel and the public on May 9, 2019, for the best two to be decided.
The winner and runner up will each receive GH¢7000.00 and GH¢6000.00 respectively.
Launching the awards, the Acting Vice Chancellor of HTU, Prof. Ben Honyenuga challenged students to take risks in order to succeed.

The 2015 Marketing Man of the Year, Mr. Patrick Akorli who is also the Managing Director of Ghana Oil Company has made a donation of GH¢100,000.00 towards the scheme for the next 5 years.
